And it’s hot — 101°F today. So you would think that microwaving leftovers would be as much effort as I’d be willing to put into dinner, right? But, you see, I’ve got this blob of bleu cheese butter left over from steaks a few weeks ago. I love bleu cheese butter very, very much. It was spectacular on the steaks, and now it’s figuratively burning a hole in the fridge. I’m not going to bother with steak-for-one or anything, but I think it’ll also work well on a nice burger!

I think I’ll let the BCB soften enough to shape it into a flat disc, then chill it until it’s firmed up again. I’ll separate my third-pound of ground beef into two thin patties, sandwich the BCB between them and seal the edges. Then, at dinner time, get out the frying pan (and hope for the best)! Maybe I’ll remember to take some pictures.

On the “& such” front, I’ve had some trouble the last few days getting motivated to do stuff around the house. It might be because it’s so very hot outside, or maybe it’s because my subconscious knows that summertime means taking time off and is reacting accordingly. In any case, to try and get past it/me, I’ve resorted to breaking tasks down into very small parts, and treating the smaller parts as individual, separate tasks. Right now, for example, I’m making a couple of elevated dog beds, mostly for J, our Corgi mix who really seems to dislike lying on the toasty concrete patio.

This is much better than that hot old concrete!

Instead of a task list like this:

Make PCV frame

Sew canvas

Assemble bed

…the list is now:

Move the PVC pipe from the carport to the patio

Mark the PVC pipe

Cut eight legs for beds

Cut four side pieces

Cut four end pieces

Lay out the canvas and mark cutting lines

Cut canvas

Stitch canvas

You get the idea. I seem to be able to accomplish the tiny little tasks. The bigger whole…well, it’ll happen eventually. All in all, I think this is called a coping mechanism.

Laziness? Summer. [sigh]

Two days later:

Follow up: the bleu cheese-filled burger was INCREDIBLE! So when I came in, I wanted an ice cold beer.* We didn’t have any beer. So I had wine. I had a glass of water first, but I may have still guzzled it down. [hic] Wish me luck cutting out and sewing the canvas cover for the dog bed! Just as a point of reference, I came in and sat down at my computer three times to watch the YouTube video about cutting & sewing the dog bed covers and got distracted.
